RELIGIOUS EDUCATION:

CYO/GODPARENT GROUPS - Wednesday, October 22nd – Trick or Treat for the pantry. Meet at 7:00pm in the Church basement.
RCIA classes this Thursday, October 23, 7:00pm in the School Library. Use church parking lot and NE door of the school. Classes are open to anyone who simply want to know more or who might be interested in joining the Catholic Church and to any Catholic who would like to refresh their knowledge of the Catholic faith. Topic for this week: Four Last Things / Second Coming.

OUR LADY OF FATIMA CIRCLE – will meet Tuesday, October 21st, 7:00pm, at the home of Garnet McConville, 304 Elizabeth Lane.

THE PANTRY GROCERY CART – is in the northwest lobby of the Church. Please be generous and donate your non-perishable food items and paper goods.
RECEPTION TO WELCOME FR. PETER – will be held this Sunday, October 19th in the Church basement at 12:00 noon. Please bring a covered dish and your own table service. Coffee & tea will be provided by the Altar Society.
SPANISH MASS – Starting November 2nd, Mass in Spanish will be in McCook at 3:00pm for the winter season.
CONFIRMATION – is scheduled for April 26, 2009 at the 9:00am Mass.
SEVEN STEPS TO BECOMING FINANCIALLY FREE – A CATHOLIC GUIDE TO MANAGING YOUR MONEY – A new class will be offered beginning this Sunday, October 19th from 4:00-5:30pm at the home of Brandon and Jenifer Jacobs, 711 West 7th Street, McCook. This class uses Sacred Scripture to make sense of finances and help keep your priorities straight. Course work is designed to help people get out of debt and stay out of debt, and control their financial expectations. There are two spaces available in the class. If more ask for this class, we will be happy to form another group. The cost of the textbook and workbook is approximately $30.

A GREAT DAY IS COMING! – World Mission Sunday, with Catholics of the world, are called to offer, at this Eucharistic celebration, our prayers and our generous financial support, through the Propagation of the Faith, to continue the mission of our Lord – to help the poor and suffering experience the healing love and peace of Jesus.
– $25 helps support a catechist for a month
– $75 provides for the work of Sisters
– $100 is a month’s help for a mission parish
As always, your prayers are your most treasured gift to the missions.
A second collection will be taken up this weekend for the Propagation of the Faith. An envelope is available in your set of contribution envelopes or at the entrances of the Church. Attached to this bulletin is an overview of the country of India, particularly the Diocese of Dindigul from which Fr. Peter comes to us. Some of this Propagation of Faith money will be used in the formation of this diocese and others like it in missionary countries.
ST. JAMES CATHOLIC CHURCH, TRENTON – and Holy Family Church, Palisade will be hosting their fall dinner and bazaar. November 2, 2008, Trenton, Nebraska. Serving ham and turkey dinner from 11:00am to 1:30pm (adults $6.00, children 4-9, $3.00). Bazaar, raffle, silent auction. All are invited.
McCOOK HARVEST CHURCH – invites everyone to their 6th Annual Harvest Carnival! Friday, October 31st, 4:30-8:30pm, First Church of God, 1211 Norris Avenue. Free will donations accepted. Hot chocolate, hot cider & coffee. Chili for $1.00, door prizes, video and puppet skits.
THE ALTAR SOCIETY – will be cleaning the Rectory on Saturday, October 25th. We will start at 9:00am. If you can help, please call Deanna Syder at 340-6809 or 362-4474.
THE ALTAR SOCIETY – will be packing boxes of home made cookies for the military. Please bring your cookies to the Altar Society meeting on November 4th.
A VOTERS’S GUIDE FOR SERIOUS CATHOLICS – is available at the entrances to the Church. Please take one, if we run out we will get more. Please vote responsibly.
RELIGIOUS ARTICLES ARE ON SALE – in the back of the Church. Usually there is someone available to assist you after the 9:00am Mass. For assistance after the other Masses or at special times call Diane at 364-2747, Aggie at 345-1869, or the Rectory at 345-6734. We will take special orders for Christmas, weddings, or other special occasions. Please allow sufficient time for special orders.
